I have no red or maroon carpeting in my home. It started a short time after the Katrina repairs. I have treated my home for molds. I thought it may be insulation but our insulation is yell not pink. Can some help with the answer. Its driving me nuts. I am dusting constantly and its always this dark red color.

If you have red dust in every room, it's probably being distributed by your central air conditioning. Assuming you have central air conditioning, have a professional evaluate the evaporator coil and/or furnace for corrosion. I suspect your red dust is rust.

If it's not associated with the HVAC, what's the soil like in your area? If you have a lot of red clay (which is predominantly what we have) and construction is going on around you, a leaky return duct/s may be introducing it.

Hope this helps.

Sounds like rust? Do you know what they used to treat the mold?
