The annexed Mexicans at the time wouldn't go for the Americanized names then they certainly wouldn't now. And I'm talking about the Americans with Mexican heritage.

What's "Americanized" mean in this case?. New York is named after some place in England-should it be given a native-American name?

Looking past all the other arguments, changing the name of a place is simply annoying. Have you ever tried driving down a highway where they changed the names of all the exits? It is really just a waste of time, when a name is just a name.

Like they did in the South East (La Florida, St. Augustine), in the Mid-Atlantic states(Manteo, Hatteras), in the North East (Ticonderoga, Champlain)? A sites name reflects its heritage, whatever that may be. Changing it smacks of a racial-superiority agenda. Can You see Florida being called "Flower"?

Got enough places named Washington and Springfield and Lincoln. I'd rather keep them straight by leaving them alone. Is there more than one Las Vegas?

They don't need changing, 'cause they are Americanized already as long as they are a part of the US which is featured as a melting boiler of all the cultures.

Only to the point where we can spell them with our alphabet. the funny names help distinguish the region.

" shoulda, woulda, coulda, but didn't". lol, it may have made some difference down the road, but i'm sure they didn't foresee any problem by not doing it...come to think of it I'm wondering what the problem is? lol....i'm a bit slow sometimes...
