A lid of mary jane only cost $15 and a hit of acid was pure, nothing mixed in it that would kill you, and a lot of sex without a condom cause you didn't have to worry about AIDS, (did a few guys home on leave from vietnam!), and the Pill and abortion was new (bases were covered). Loved the disco dancing and I believe that music was at it's creative best! Frampton Comes Alive! was released during that era, never got tired of hearing it., favorite LP. Enjoyed New Wave coming in, saw the Police on their first tour ever and went to concert of Talking Heads with their second LP. New Wave was exciting as the 70's were drawing to a close and we stood with our mouth's open wondering what else is there. New Wave changed the course of the sound of music.

Does anyone remember the energy crisis? People were lined up at the pumps back then too. Auto company's started manufacturing smaller engine cars. Natural gas prices went through the roof! Very expensive to heat your home. People were looking into other sources of energy such as solar power.

An almost nuclear accident at Three Mile Isalnd in Pennsylvania made us rethink the safety of using nuclear energy. That issue is still with us today.

You could still hitchhike across the USA without worrying about serial killers on the loose, not like you do now anyway!

What else was good was John Lennon was still with us as well as Paul & Linda with Wings, and let's not forget George Harrison. Ringo was at the top of the charts (w/o Beatles). At the beginning of the 70's we still had Janis, Jimi, and Jim and Duane Allman. Stevie Ray Vaughn hadn't been discovered yet but he was still alive. We still had Lynard Skynard and Ricky Nelson to rock to. We were enjoying the original line up of Queen and listening to their 1st, 2nd, etc. releases. The Who with Keith Moon, loved to watch him play those drums! As well as John Bonham with Led Zeppelin. It was good watching Aerosmith the first time around.

Yep! As Bob Dylan said, The Times They Are A Changin. We now pass the torch on to a new generation whom I hope will have just as fond memories to share as we had.

* I was young and it was the best time of my life (13 to 23), so almost EVERYTHING! --

* Rod Stewart released Maggie May and 'my gang' have always adored him and the song is our 'signature'

* Rock & Roll vs Disco (R&R the coolest, Disco great for dancin'!) Hey Days hard rock: Zep, Deep Purple, other rock: Supertramp, Yes, Styx, Tull, Fleetwood Mac, Eagles, Steve Miller
pop: Carpenters, Manilow, ABBA, Bee Gees

* Crazy fashions - bell bottoms, platzo (sp) pants, mini skirts, hot pants, peasant blouses, seare sucker jackets, disco clothes;
shoes: platforms, wedgies, Earth shoes, Adidas
* Hair: long & straight or super short bobs, Dorothy Hamill cut, The Shag, The Surf...guys with long hair and later perms for guys

*Firsts - full-time job, apartment, car, steady boyfriend, all-nighter parties, lots of camping, 'whatever/whenever'

*REAL cars - the 'muscle' car era - Barracuda, Mustang, Malibu, 442s, etc. V8s

..alas kids, there's much more, but now that I'm old...I'm tired...signed,
A Child Of The Seventies (!)

(And yes, 'youngins' - that means that some of us are 45 and older...as you will be in 20-30 years, and someone will ask "What was the Best thing that you liked about the 00's?")
