How Do You Switch Majors At A University?

Generally, how do you do it?

I want to switch from political science to psychology. Related feilds, so i am hoping there is no hassle.

You must go to the office main area of school and let them know by filling in a form. They should have that sort of form maybe even online depending on which school you go to. If you have finally made up your mind on which major you will pursue go tell them right away and start bearing down on your new specialty. You need to meet all your new professors and get to know everyone from your department. So go to the office and ask for a change of major form or look for it online/

depends on how the university u go to handles things like this...typically u have to get a form from your bursar/student enrollment office (basically anywhere u get/turn in paperwork) that will declare your switch...then usually u have to get it signed...at my school it's by your advisor...and the deans/chairs of the major u were to the major u r switching too...also...make sure u meet all the requirements for switching...like g.p.a. and stuff like that...also make sure that u r pretty certain about this...cuz paperwork at a university take a while to be processed...so switching over and over again isn't a viable option...hope this helps

You should first discuss the idea with someone in the new department after reading through the university catalog. They can help you with any "quirks" of the process.

At my college, you go to the Office of Academic Affairs to change the major officially.
