I have a laptop and I am having trouble getting drivers for the ethernet controller so I can access the internet. Is there a way to network the laptop to the desktop and pull the internet connection that is working on the desktop? If so, how exactly do I do that and what do I need? (Not very literate when it comes to the techy side of computers)

I have a router, and used the lan in to the lan port on my laptop, however my ethernet controller does not have the drivers installed (used to have a wireless router installed) I've tried downloading the drivers and that didn't work, it's not recognizing them. Can I connect a wireless router to my wired router so only my laptop is using the wireless and everthing else remains unaffected?

if your Ethernet is not working some how you deleted the drivers if it came with a drivers disk with is rare but can happen then just reinstall or you can roll back the drivers.
You can connect the two computers and do it on the web just make sure your net work is setup first to do that just go to start then go to My Network Places and select setup small home network and follow the directions

your laptop should already have a driver for ethernet so i do not understand why you would not be able to connect via ethernet to your laptop if you are directly connected to the modem, you can connect wireless but you will need a wireless router connected to your modem in order to to so
