i'm doing a speech on global warming for speech class and i need to come up with an "attention getter"... please help... how can i start my speech???

I suggest the following line for your attention getter:
"When we think of how cataclysmic earth changes caused the extinction of the dinosaurs, consider what could happen to cause the extinction of the human race!"
I have usually aced my term papers in college especially on controversial issues such as this. Personally, I do not believe in global warming. We had global cooling just in the past 1000 years. This is simply a cyclical weather pattern that occurrs over long periods of time.
Right now the earth is experiencing a flux in its magnetic poles which weakens the earths "magnetic shield". This allows more solar radiation to penetrate the earths atmosphere. This is what I believe to be the main reason for any perceived warming of the earth, not "greenhouse gases".

Is there really a global warming or is the equipment that we use today so much more accurate that the readings are much higher. Twenty years ago the tools to measure were far less accurate. We now can measure to within inches with GPS and computers whereas years back it was in miles

u can start off by saying some of the polar caps are melting so fast, that polar bears stranded on ice flows hve been found drowned, and that they r discovering islands under some of the ice.[ this is all true] ckeck national geographic, i think thats where i read this.
