Battery or assault (in some jurisdictions) means making an attempt to cause injury or bodily harm to someone. "Aggravated" battery is an elevated degree of simple assault or battery. If you were to push or shove someone, that is a simple assault. If you used a weapon (baseball bat, chain, tire tool) to attack someone, you could be charged with aggravated battery - a higher classification of a crime.

Battery is using force against another person that results in a contact that causes harm or no harm just a touch that you did not consent to. To make it arrravated you need to use a weapon or hurt the person bad. An Assault you don't need to make any contact just the threat of it and to make that assravated use a weapon

You use a weapon to aggravate a situation. Much like burglary and aggravated burglary - in the latter you take a weapon of some sort to assist with your crime.
