I look better when I wear makeup, however, I do not wear a lot of makeup ( more than mascarea and lip gloss on a regular basis) when I do wear make to work ( the full face, foundation, eye shadow, blush, eye liner, eye shadow, and lip stick, all in neautrals and pinks) I get a lot of compliments. I always thank people for their compliments, but I am sort of offended that I am complimented on covering up my face. Men are not required to even shave. Why do women have to do all this to though of as taking care of themselves. And, am I ****** up for being put off by the compliments?

I usually only wear lip gloss and eye liner to work. When I wear full face of make up in neutral colors i get more compliments.

This is an interesting question. I look at at makeup an enhancement, than covering up. A few years ago I noticed that people even responded differently to me (in a good way) when I had on my makeup. Something as simple as the checker in the market, or the person in the bank. I mentioned this to my dad, and he said yes, that people view you as a person who takes care of their appearance. This also applies to men; even though they don't wear makeup, they need haircuts, to shave, clothes that aren't wrinkled, etc. If you are or work with professionals you will see the difference.
I wear full makeup on the weekdays, but neutrals like you do. Believe me, I don't always feel like putting it on, but it makes a difference. When I present myself to the public, my appearance is very important to me. Since you are not overdone, don't look at it as "covering" yourself but as caring about how you look.

that's society! when i have on a full face of make up (natural looking but it's all there. from foundation powder, eye shadow, eye liner, mascara, and lip gloss), people give me compliments. when i wear less make up, (mascara and lip gloss), i get compliments but not as much. guys could walk down the street with their underwear on their heads and nobody would care. the most that would be said is that he's either got some serious fashion problems or he forgot his meds! girl's are slaves to fashion! damn western society!

No you are not. I spent several years as a hairdresser, where we were taught to have our hair, makeup and nails done everyday. We needed to sell what we did. It was a pain to do it everyday. But it sure is nice, that my fiance loves me natural. I now don't wear makeup much anymore except for eyeliner and mascara. Unless we are going somewhere special. Many men like a woman more natural instead of with heavy makeup. Put a little on your eyes to make them stand out, or play up your best feature. Do what you are comfortable with.

YES and NO!Do you HAVE to wear so much makeup to work? You probably look gorgeous cos heavy makeup looks gorgeous but you probably look gorgeous without it too. You are complimented for doing your makeup so well do you really hate the compliments you are probably insecure I like heavy makeup but never been fooled by it cos I can see through it. Try wearing much heavier or less to work and see what happens!

Depends, make up is when you are going somewhere special, but if you wanna wear it when you go to work it's totally fine. When you go to work wear it so it cannot be noticed too much. The key to makeup is doing it so it looks as though as you didn't put it on. When you go to nightclubs and all those, you can wear it so it stands out more.... you know?

i asked a similar question....and only a couple ppl got it. most thought i was artificial or ungrateful. no, you are not f'cked up for being put off by the compliments. oh my gosh, you are not crazy. good for you for moving beyond the look. but this is how society is, judging ppl largely by their appearance. i don't wear a dime of makeup (and it doesn't matter if you do or don't) and ppl always complement and that i don't wear makeup......i'm grateful thankful whatever, but then it's like, dude how about my personality? i'm pretty sure i have one.

I agree with you. When I get compliments on my make up I try to look at it like they are complimenting the obvious time and effort I put into my appearance that day. This helps me. Good luck

No woman needs makeup. If they want to it help enhance a feature go for it. I would rather see a woman without makeup than with it. I'd rather see the natural beauty of a woman than have it covered by makeup.

To me, women are beautiful without makeup and I don't see makeup as a necessity and why fashion magazines promote pages and pages of it...Women are beautiful as God made them and we women should embrace who we are and not try to cover ourselves up with makeup that the "experts" tell us ALL we look good in. We are not dolls with perfect features--we are women with flaws-we are REAL and I think it's time more people began to see it that way! :)
