the guests vary in ages. I'm thinking of something elegant but fun.

Let me just say that i love bridal showers!!!

First- If you can, find out the wedding colors are so that you can coordinate the decorations.

Second- Find a theme! With a theme it will make it easier for you to decide on the decorations!

Third- Invitations, when you figure out the colors and you have a theme, you can then decide on the invitation. You dont have to go crazy and extravagant with the invites. You want them to be bright, to catch the readers attention, and you want people to look at the invite with the anticipation of a great party. (a suggestion would be to create something of your own using a program like microsoft publisher, and put the file on a disc. Take the disk over to staples, office max, or office depot and have them put the invite on card stock--a thicker paper product-- the invite doesnt have to be a full sheet, a half sheet will do)

Fourth- Favors!!- give a favor that people can eat. For my girlfriends bridal shower, i made chocolate roses, flowers etc-- I went to a crafts store (rag shop, michaels, etc) got the molds, and the chocolate, sticks, little bags, etc and did it all myself (they were like chocolate lollypops). If you buy white chocolate you can use fruit coloring to coordinate with your party decorations. (i find that favors usually get thrown out, because they are essentially dust collectors! so if you give your guest something edible, you can eliminate the waste) If you go to a place like party city, you can actually get a ribbon made with name of the bride to be, shower date, etc put on the ribbon.--you can rap the ribbon around the stick of the pop.

***Also, to make these chocolates quick and fast--after pouring them into the mold, put it in the freezer, and in a few min they will cool. (i swear this cuts the time!!) Fyi--you need a double boiler in order to melt the chocolate, a regular pot will burn it. ***

Lastly- some people like to rent a special chair for the bride to be-- you can go to florist or a party city and you will find one there. There are tons of things you can easily rent for an event like this. You can also go to Bulkpartysupplies.com, you might find some ideas on the things you might want for the party(table confetti, etc). If you like balloons, rent a helium tank from party city, its like 20-30 dollars(depending on the size) and i think there is a deposit (but its refunded). I love balloons! You can get some on the site that i suggested as well (if not at party city as well), latex balloons, pretty matching ribbon, and tie them in nice sized bunches- then place strategically!

Nevertheless, my girlfriend loved her bridal shower, she said it was like walking into a fairytale. So i wish you the best of luck, have fun with it!!!!

Trivia!
Have some questions about the bride and or groom ready to be asked and see how many people "really" there about to be wed friend. (questions can include things like, how they met, what was the first job that the bride held... you get the idea)

Guess?
Find or buy a cute container or bottle and fill it up with candy, or safety pins, or anything having to do with the wedding or shower. Make sure you know how many pieces are in it before you seal it up. Pass the bottle around and have the guests guess how many pieces are in it. Have them write on a piece of paper with their guess. Who ever is the closest, wins.

Wedding Dress:
Before the shower, purchase several rolls of white toilet paper. At the party, divide the guests into two or more groups of 3-5 people. Each group must choose a model for their wedding dress (mothers of the bride and/or groom work wonderfully). The goal is for each group to design and fashion a "wedding dress" out of toilet paper. Accessories are allowed (earrings, bouquets, trains, headpieces, wedding ring, etc.), but they must all be fashioned out of toilet paper. Once the groups are finished, the bride must pick the winner of the contest. This is my favorite bridal shower activity. And brides love this contest for the wonderful photo-memories it provides.

There is a game where you take small paper bags (either white or brown) and spell the bride and grooms name (one letter per bag) and inside each bag you place an item that begins with the letter on the bag. The item has to pertain to the wedding. Example: B-bouquet. The person getting the most correct wins.
