"To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, 'right' or 'wrong', is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public."

Theodore Roosevelt (1918)

So is the Iraq war "right" or "wrong" ?

Pres. Bush says it's to liberate Iraq; and therefore "right".

Pres. Bush's critics say it's to put an U.S. controled government in Iraq; and have at their oil; and therefore "wrong".

So which is it ? ? ?

I believe it is wholey unpatriotic and treasonous to love one's country and president only because they have that status. The whole point of this democracy is to question authority... criticize it to make it grow! Have a voice and be independant. To accept the government no matter what is dictatorial and closed-minded. The idea of getting rid of Saddam is an ok thing to do... to label it "right" or "wrong" is difficult because it is "right" to want a bad man out of power but "wrong" to cause an increase of terrorism and ruining people's lives.

In my opinion the Iraq war is "wrong".

Just my opinion though.

Finally someone that realizes the ideals that our great country was founded on. Our country comes first! If we idly sit and do nothing as a self-confessed wanna-be dictator, takes over our country.

"You don't get everything you want. A dictatorship would be a lot easier... So long as I'm the dictator."

From his interview in "The Taming of Texas," Governing Magazine (July 1998)

You should see some of the other things he has said. Poor blind reboobs, don't even know their own leader.

John16.....Put down the funny pills, MOST of the American public is against the war in Iraq, by an overwhelming majority.

It violates the international treaties that we not only signed, but that we _wrote_, that say you cannot invade a sovereign nation, nor can you torture enemy combatants. We were lied to about the reasons for going in, which you can see from the way those reasons were changed. First, it was because Iraq had connections with al-Qaeda. When that was proved wrong, it was because they had WMDs. No WMDs? Oh, then it's because... um.... We need to install a democracy. Yeah, that's right. Only we haven't installed a democracy, we've installed a mess that has already deteriorated into a civil war. I wonder what the next excuse is? So, yeah, bad war.

Well, I can debunk the we are there for oil crap.

We have a lot of it in the US and we refuse to drill for it. Why would we go to war when we can have a lot here?

We do not want a US controlled government in Iraq. We want a freely elected one. With democracy, there is no terrorism to feed off tyranny and hate.

We also went into Iraq because Saddam did not keep up his end of the bargain after the Gulf War. He was supposed to let in UN weapon inspectors and did not. I know this because I saw President Bush say this on tv before we went in.

Neither.

Although we definitely did not go to Iraq because of what Bush's critics say, it is also a fact that we did not exactly go to war with Iraq to liberate Iraqi's either. We went there to remove a middle eastern dictator for violating UN resolutions while fighting a middle eastern war on Islamic Terrorism. Anyone who agrees with that is RIGHT!

Those who stand up for truth justice and the notion that all men are created equal and that their rights derive not from a constitution but from their creator are patriots. They remain firm in the pricinples of this great nation even in the face of an enemy within and without. It is those men and women of understanding who make our nation worth living in, worth protecting and worth dying for. Not the cowards and hypocirtes who play on fears and hatred to pad their own pocketbooks.

Roosevelt said it best. Too bad the Republicans have trouble grasping his wise words.

Indeed, who is a true Patriot.
