Oh my, of course you want to control your pimples! They can be painful ..in more ways than one. I had them throughout my adolescence, early 20's and still do in my 40's. And I have some scars to prove it! So it's not all hormones, but also genetics and skin type.

For some people, lack of sleep, certain foods, stress (eg: of school) will make pimples worse; things you can't always control - that's life!

I have met several people who have gone to a dermatologist to get the strong-Retinol (Vit A) treatment (with good resutls) and also those for whom it did not work!

I agree, that the Neutrogena products are good. I use them and I have my 15-year old daughter using them with reasonable results. We also have other products that we use.

I suggest you try various products - high-end stuff made by well-established companies. In my experience you should stay away from products with salicylic acid (it's the same stuff that is used in plantar wart remover -just in lower concentrations!!) and S. acid is "cheap" for cosmetic companies to put in their products, yet sell at high prices! [It doesn't really "clean" the skin - it just dries it out!]

Some companies have a 2 or 3-step product line (eg: Clinique) that uses multiple products to help control oil, break-outs, infections etc (eg: special soap, skin toner then anti-acne skin lotion or cream etc). I think the hardest thing is staying with the routine of using the products, especially if break-outs are minimized, & you stop using the product. It is important to keep up the routine to keep skin from breaking out.

The over-the-counter products for acne are sooooo much better than a couple of decades ago. I so much wish I had had them available for me. Consistency in using them - AFTER you find what is BEST for you is a key.

The ones advertised on TV, I think, are NOT the ones that will be the best for you. Do some research, talk to trained cosmeticians, get lots of opinions. Try the products for a period of time, say, 1-2 weeks before making your decision as to whether they are helping or not.

Tip: Benzoyl peroxide (aka Oxy 5 or similar) was one of the first over-the-counter anti-pimple creams that worked for me and my friends with acne problems. It's been around 15 years plus. There is a trick with it: when you apply it, only put a bare minimum of it on the infected area. Letting "air" and the benzoyl peroxide "work together" is actually more effective than loading tons of it on you skin.

The best way for them to disappear, is for them to never get started. But my guess is you'd rather find a way to make them disappear, right? A dermatologist can give you something called Retin-A, which is a highly concentrated liquid. It's powerful, so if you get some dab it onto breakout points once daily, no more. If you don't have access to a dermotologist, then use soap and water, to gently wash breakout points twice a day. Stridex pads in the RED box, are also good. But it's easy to over do the cleaning, so be careful not to irritate your skin in this way. And don't worry too much about it, if possible. Hormones produce oil, and the oily skin is firtil for bacteria, and that's what makes pimples. Those hormones are there for a reason, though. It's part of life. So try to accept a few zits every now and then, as normal.

here are some things u can try:

mash 2 strawberries and sread on ur face. leavee on 4 5minutes. Strawberies have tons of salicyc acid which is the main ingrediant in most acne products. plus the seeds will get rid of dead skin.

mix baking powder with water until it becomes a sort of paste. eave it on skin overnight and wash off in morning. the zits will be smaller and dryed up.

if the pimples are red, then take a yellow marker and color it over with it. nly color on the zit though. then use a concealer or just use loose powder. This will conceal the zits

I am an avid fan of Neutrogena products. If you have a lot of blemishes, I would advise use of their acne line. Try their acne formula bar soap. I also use the acne facial scrub. They also have an on-the-spot acne treatment. Try a Target and view the whole line. Additionally, Mary Kay has a great mask. You can purchase it based on your skin type (normal, oily, mixed). You can find a representative by visiting their website. All of these products really helped me. Also, they are all reasonably priced.

Use proactive it really works! but other than that make sure you wash your face twice a day and change your pillow case every three days. Other than that pimple cream oxy or whatever brand with sycalic acid in them to dry them out.
