Why Do Drugs?

Question

Simple question. Why do people do drugs? What causes them to do it in the first place?

And serious answers please. I'm asking in particular because I've sworn to myself never to do maruijuana, heroin, etc. or drink, and yet I see many of my peers and friends do it all the time, and I find it somewhat frustrating, if slightly curious.

Good choice. I did drugs just cause they were offered to me. It's fun.. but it's so fun that everything else loses it's appeal.

So in my case, curiosity. Some people to do them to deal with crap in their life.. not me. It's just something to do.

With some people its pure pressure and with others its because life sucks! And it takes one out of reality for awhile I guess! Some people are stressed out with bills, work, kids, partners and etc. Some lose love ones and they turn to the bottle or drugs to get rid of the pain. There are some people who have health problems and pain so they turn to drugs and drinking to help. There are some young teenagers that do it to look kool and to be bad. But these things are very additive and it can ruin some peoples lives, even death. Like drinking and driving and killing someone, and one wanting to be kool and dieing over an overdose. So theres also a down side on all this. Don't let anyone push you to do what you don't want to do, but be responsible.

curiosity and drugs is a terrible combination... at first it's pretty fun but then u start to do it just to feel normal or routine.. it's weird how it gets u but usually it does..... unless u do it once and u have such a bad trip that u never do it again.. but i mean who wouldn't want to do something that's fun and makes them feel good at the same time right? but yeah that's cool u aren't doing them u ain't missing out on anything... it's a waste of time and money basically but then some just go through it to see what it's like and they get addicted although most say they aren't...

Some people use drugs to "self medicate". I know someone who smokes pot so it evens out his moods...i know this guy very well, and i have seen when he's smoked, and when he hasnt, and it really does mellow him out. he has ADD and is Manic Depressive

Some people use because of peer pressure, bordom, curiosity.

My drug usage was because i was curious.

You are making the right choice by not using drugs!

When you havent done any of those things its easy to just not do them, but why dont you. Drinking is fun in moderation, first find out how to handle your alcohol...how much is fun and how much will make you drunk... Marijuana is fun and mellow, but it is considered the gateway drug, so be carefull. The others are too serious and very addictive so dont try anything else.

For the experience. I have done some drugs within the past. one of the drugs, e, gave me a different and more positive outlook on the world. If you dont want to do drugs, then stay true to your word. But, do not put negativity down on ppl. who have used them, they are not bad unless you let drugs get the best of you (for example: Addiction.)

i don't do drugs anymore. been sober for 3 1/2 years. i started at 13 and just liked the way it made me feel. then when i graduated college i decided that it was time to grow up and quit everything.

Because people offer it to you and if your stupid your like "yeah".

Or sometimes your just depressed and are in so much pain that you have noone or nothing to turn to and drugs seem to be the only way out.

hey there, i new someone that did weed al the time, everytime she was down or angry, she would have a joint to carm her down and then when she didnt have the stuff all them emotion came out in her, becoz she would always solve her probs with a joint and then she would be alright, anyway i noticed that when she didnt have the stuff she would be such a diff person whitch was real sad to me, she didnt no how to handle her own amotions, the anger came back, she didnt no who she was anymore, so why do people do drugs???? becoz they dont have control of them selfs anymore, why i dont do drugs??? becoz id ratha have control over my self!!!!!

Acceptenance.,Belonging, Being one of the in crowd.
Then you realize it's too late and you can't stop.
Then you need more and more and by that time you have moved on
from your drug of choice to something harder.,and so on and so on.
It usually starts with alcohol.,and ends with death.
Listen children, stop and think before you take that first drink or first
hit.Before you know it your doing crack and can't stop.
