Padre Island Tx. If you are college age (oh how I wish!!)
Is a great place. Fla has become spring break UNFRIENDLY
cops have become VERY heavy handed.
If you decide to go to San Diego, check out Ocean beach.
Not a real spring break destination for the masses, but a great beach as far as beaches go.

Personally I love to go skiing around that time because it's never really warm enough anywhere to enjoy the beach unless you go to the Caribbean and even then it can be a little too chilly. The best spring break I had was up in Quebec and we skied at Mt. Tremblant. Since it was in Canada it was really affordable and everyone could drink legally!
Anyway... other than that... and in the US, I guess San Diego is really good because you can head down to Mexico if you like. If you want to see a city, NY and Chicago are cheap because it's ******* cold! But.. there are so many indoor things to do and tons of nightlife that it is really fun for spring break if you're willing to be in the cold.
Have fun!

Daytona Beach is always popular. I would also look into Austin TX. Besides New Orleans back in the day, Austin was the best Spring Break I had! Lots of music and bars... the ppl there were just great!

South Beach, Miami, FL is fantastic. There is so much going on during spring break.
The southbeachgroup.com hotels offer great deals during spring break - about $100-$150 per room per night. You can squeeze in 4 people to a room. Flights are cheap too. Free shuttle bus services to/from Miami airport.
