If it is directly under the ear it often is a lymph node that has an infection and is combatting the infection. Given the extent of the swelling possibilities are in infected tooth or bone, or something more serious. He needs to see a doctor or dentist asap whether it is infection or something else given what you describe. don't wait for an appointment go in on an urgent care illness basis.

the lump under the ear could be a lymph node, the jaw swelling and pain could be a bad tooth, you guys may want to see a doctor first thing in the morning, call the ER if symptoms get worse in the night, good luck

A lump under your ear usually means infection. Sounds like an abscessed tooth to me. He should get to a dentist and get started on antibiotics. Infection that close to the brain can be serious!

Probably a swollen lymph node from an infection of some kind. I'd have it checked out since it hurts.

sounds like he's got an ear infection or a swollen gland.
He will likely need antibiotics, but in the meantime, put a nice warm pack on it.
