I also have accounts with them... i know they told me, that there are 2 ways of avoiding paying monthly... 1. open the savings account with at least $300 or 2. Set it up so that every month (whenever you want, you pick the date) a certain amount gets transferred from your checking to your savings... in that case, you can have them connect your debit card with your savings account, and take the money right back out if you want.

It depends on the account - many banks charge a fee if you don't have at least $750 in the bank - so I'm guessing you don't have the minimum balance.

Go to a credit union, they will open your account for $5, and not charge you the high fees of Chase.

I doubt that any bank would require a monthly deposit into a saving account. You would have to ask Chase why you are required to put $4 in your checking account. Banks have various requirements such as minimum monthly balance, or if you did not make that $4 deposit, they may charge you a fee. I went to the Chase web site. There are too many variables such as different types of checking accounts. I would go to a Chase Bank and speak to someone face to face. Credit Unions are easier to deal with. Go to Google and search: credit unions in Virginia (as an example) You should find one in your area. If you are in Virginia near Washington DC there are many in that area.
