You owe the ex-wife nothing, and based upon what I can discern here is that she signed over the house to your husband with the quit claim deed and therefore could have received some type of monetary compensation for doing so. Get a copy of the divorce agreement. Do not sign anything. What names are on the mortgage. If her name is not on the mortgage, take some legal action to have her removed from the property if that is okay with the attorney. In the meantime, who is making the mortgage payments and paying the taxes. If you are not careful, the house will be put up for auction for nonpayment of the mortgage payment and taxes. DO NOT let this woman bully you, You were your husband's wife; she is the FORMER wife, with no standing whatsoever from what I can tell. Unless you adopted the stepkids, the former wife still has standing as mother of the children. Have you been to social security or talked to your husband's employer about death benefits for your child and his other children. God bless. DO NOT LET HER PUSH YOU AROUND.

Um....if your lawyer told you do this, why would you go on Yahoo! Answers for a second opinion? Listen to your lawyer.
