I have found a 2002 Pontiac Trans Am Firehawk and a 2002 Firebird Firehawk and they are basically exactly the same accept for the words on the back. (one says firebird and one says Trans Am) I was just wondering if anyone could tell me the difference in the two.

The difference in the two is the look. Yea ok they both are F-bodys and all, but if your a true trans am fanatic you can tell the difference. Forexample i have a 2002 pontiac firehawk TRANS AM. The difference between that and the firebird, is that the firebird originated off the FORMULA. If you look on the body of the FORMULA, you will notice the difference in foglights, and the daytime light's (orange lights) which also are used for your blinkers. If you look on the TRANS AM version on the firehawk, it will have the two foglights on the bottom, and your (orange lights) different compared to the FIREBIRD, firehawk. As far as the performance, there isnt a difference. They both share the same suspension and ls1 mods as SLP offers for a firehawk. It's just the body is a little different. In my perspective id say the trans am firehawk is a lil better looking. Most Firbird Firehawks dont have the Daytona wing in the back as the Trans am Firehawks came out with. If your not to sure what im talking about, on my car it has the long brake light in the back. Hope this helps......

Actually the Formula came off the Firebird chasis. A Firebird is the base model, the Formula is the bottom V8 package with the same gears and engine as a TA but a less expensive option package. TA is the top of the heap. The Firehawk was made using either a Formula or a TA that was sent to SLP (Street Legal Performance) who upgraded the engine, tranny, suspension and brakes and maybe a few interior things as well.

There isn't much difference. Probably just a different package built on the same chassis. GM is pretty famous for using the same chassis or platform to build multiple vehicles under different companies. Actually all the main 3 domestics do it. But GM just has more different companies to use.
