Yes, I remember learning that back in highschool in Science. Since then I have always added about 1/2-1 tsp when I'm going to boil pasta or potato's. you can try it out by heating up water to a low boil and then add the salt. You will see the reaction.

Water actually boils slower with salt added. People add salt to water when cooking because it raises the boiling point of water. This allows the food you are cooking in boiling water to cook faster.

No water does not boil faster when salt is added.
When you add a salt to water, the freezing point will go down and the boiling point will go up. So with this effect water will take longer to boil when salt is added.

Logically it wouldn't be faster as the salt element in the water need to adsorb more heat. Imagin heat as an energy applied to the pure water. And now, there is an add-on of salt element that adsorbing the energy as well as the water molecule.

However, boiling point will be increase with the existence of salt element.

Solutes will lower the freezing point and increase the boiling point, so water will boil at a higher temperature with added salt. If heat is applied at the same rate, it will therefore take longer to boil.

This is also one reason why salt is placed on snowy and icy roads in winter - it will lower the freezing point and help it melt.

Salt raises the boiling point of water and lowers it's freezing point. The more salt you add, the greater the gap.

No !!! the more things you add to water the more the boiling point raises. Then only way that H2O boils faster is by covering the pot with a lid...

Salt raises the boiling point of water, so it boils HOTTER, but not faster.

Salt also lowers the freezing point of water, which is why home ice cream makers use rock salt.

But, it doesn't affect it that much. (Two full tablespoons only increases boiling point of a a mere liter of water by two degrees Celcius).

No matter how much salt you add, salt only raises the boiling point, so, it will just be hotter, but not faster.

No. It actually takes longer as salt raises the boiling point.
