"When asked the name of one person who has influenced me, I usually shrug." -- does this sentence use incorrect grammar in verb tenses? if so, how can i correct it?

"When asked to name one person that has influenced me, I usually respond with a shrug"

Or

"When asked to name one person that has influenced me, I responded with a shrug."

These are more "sound" to me...but I could be wrong.

Grammar and verb agreement is fine.
I think you could order the words differently to make the sentence sound better, but there is nothing wrong with the way it is.

"When I am asked the name of one person who has influenced me, I usually shrug."

asked is past tense, shrug is present. Shrugged may be better.
