Oh, how I can relate! Same thing -pretty much my whole life. My son in 12 years old and he has had them since he was a baby! People who meet him for the first time often think he is ill or very fatigued!
Okay, for one, I don't think water is the solution. I started drinking 8 cups of water a day a number of years ago for other health problems . . . which DID help those problems, but it definitely didn't make a bit of difference with the dark circles under my eyes. (I still drink 3-4 cups of water a day - water is great!) I've used various concealers for years - with which I have never been happy with - wears out in an hour or so!
I had a cosmetician tell me years ago - that it is likely genetic (for people like us).
There are a number of very new cosmetic products out there that reduce the appearance of the dark circles under the eyes. The best I've used for the last 9 months is a CLINIQUE product called Intensive Eye Wear (try Sears or at high-end dept stores); just dab the cream around the eye area 1-2 times a day (it's clear, no coloring). I found it took a couple of weeks until I saw results - but it was significant. I am also trying a product made by Neutrogena Corp called "Radiance Boost" and claims that it "reduces the appearance of dark circles & puffiness". It seems great, too. Other cosmetic companies have their comparable products. I would consider trying it out for yourself. These very new products really do work - although you may have to wait for results - you won't get change in 1 or 2 days! (They are not cheap, & are NOT made by middle-of-the road cosmetic companies).
I'm to the point that when I use these specialized eye creams for dark circles, exactly as per instructions, that often I don't even need concealers when doing my morning make-up !!

Puffiness under eye is from dehydration. Drink 8 glasses of water a day. Dark circles seem to come from puffiness. If you have time you can use a cold compress or buy the gel filled masks you put in the fridge. Lay that over your eyes for 10-15 min.
I have heard that cucumbers work ... never tried it though.
Best wishes.

It is interesting that you asked this question because my mom suffers from the exact same thing. She had a makeover once and the lady just tried to cover it up with makeup. I had a lady that sold Mary Kay that I used to order from and she had this stuff that helped with that. I'm drunk right now so I can't think of the name but it helps with the eyes. My mom uses it fiathfully everyday I have seen a difference with it. If you find the name let me know.

Its a secret that I know. First try sleeping more(duh) then in the morning put white eyeliner over the dark circle and smear it a little bit. Then cover it at the end with ur skin tone concealor. I use it all the time and it works for me.
(My sister helps me with these kind of questions)

Ok so I had this same problem for quite awhile. The number one reason for this occuring is a lack of sleep, however in my case it was a food alergy. I didn't know, but I was alergic to milk and oatmeal. You could try looking in the phone book for some type of "Food Alergy" doctor. Good luck!

it could be your not getting enough sleep or like me it runs in your family.and then it sucks cuz when you put concealer on or coverup it jus makes then worse like highlights it ughhh! and i have tried the expensive 100.00 eye cream and it dont **** nor did it for my other friend.so save your money and just make sure you get plenty of sleep and try bare essentials makeup that honestly have made a better difference for me.hope i helped a lil

well i had them also and my doctor then informed me that I was A Diabetic, type 2 adult onset and that caused the dark circles because I was previously miss diagnosed many years earlier. Now that I am taking care of my diabetes, my dark circles are dissappearing naturally.
Food for thought !

your not getting enough sleep. Put and ice cube or cold rag on your eyes. Have a beauty day. Take a bubble bath, put a mad mask on, paint your nails, have a drink(if you can...lol) Just relax! You also need lots of water!! like 8 cups......also try Tea bags....it sounds funny but it works. they have to be wet. Drink one glass of orange juice too. Hope this helps
cucumbers might help too.

i have the same problem....i don't get enough sleep ever and my makeup tends to smear so i get black circles..ive actually found that using eyeshadow thats natural to your skin helps...its sorta doing the same thing as concealer, but it adds shine and helps the eyes look more dazzling as well!
