I just watched The Lakehouse, can someone please explain it to me, I can't figure it out, What was the reason they were living two years apart, please explain. I'm lost.

She couldn't save him and wanted to get away. She came across the house she had once lived to leave a note for the new tenant only magically it was intercepted by him two years previously because they were meant to be together. So for a month or so they comunicate until he decides he wants to meet her and does at her birthday. The dog connects the two of them like a genie. Watch the movie Three wishes if you want to learn more about the dog thing. They decide to meet for dinner again in her time but that fails. She decides to cut of communication and go on with ther life but on Valentines two years from the day he dies she learns what happened to him and she stops him from walking infront of the bus by telling him to trust her and wait two more years. He did and so he wasn't killed on Valentines day, didn't go to the restaurant as he promised because she told him not to and now he meets her again Valentine's Day 2008 proving that if you are meant to be in love time is no problem. That was the point of the Jane Austin Book she was reading.

I just watched it ..I loved that movie..Ok Keanu Reeves's character was in 2004 and Sandra Bullock was in 2006 and they exchange letters but 2 years apart and then they fall in love with each othere throw this letters.. but they are 2 years about. Keanu in the beignning finds Sandra in her time and gets run over by a bus then dies in her arms. (that part is still a little shaky for me too).. but they contine to write and there letters set forth a change of events in his past that he changes to her future..
Its really confusing I know... but you're not supposed to think about it you're supposed to go with the flow of the movie and take it for what it is a really romantic tear jerker...And that sometimes even love gets a 2nd chance...

It was a house with a mysterious magical mailbox. There's really not much more to it than that. Magic and miracles don't typically have easy explanations.

I saw that with my aunt and cousin. Yet nobody could figure out that movie. I want my money back! NOW. =]
