All we know is what they tell us, and they've given it the green light for the last couple of days. I bought and ate frozen the day after the scare (HAD to have it with my Indian curry and eggplant stew!) and was fine (my daughter was the only other one brave enough to try it-- the guys all chickened out). : ) I carefully did my research before buying, though, and found that Trader Joe's uses a different company-- a Mexican farm-- for its frozen than for its fresh bagged spinach (as for Dole and a few others, the tainted spinach's company bags the Trader Joe's brand of fresh spinach).

Frozen spinach is on the shelf here in CT. It's already been cooked. I bought some yesterday to make spinach dip. My whole family ate it last night. Nobody got sick & nobody died. If it's cooked, it kills the bacteria. Just stay away from fresh spinach for a while longer...

Frozen spinach is safe to eat because the process they go through prior to freezing kills the bacteria. They blanch the spinach in boiling water.

Frozen spinach is already cooked, so it's OK. Cooking spinach will kill ecoli. It's eating RAW spinach that's causing the problems.
