Check this website I have attached. It is from Microsoft Office.. They have alot of coverletters and resumes that you can download and copy their format. Hope that helps you with your volunteering job. I get useful ideas from there for my resumes.

There are hundreds of webpages out there that can help you. A cover letter is a letter that accompanies your resume, where you can pitch why you are a good fit for the job. Your resume is more of a data sheet with your employment and education listed. Look at some samples online and create your own.

Check out http://resume.monster.com/ - they have both a resume and cover letter tips section.

One thing to note: Writing resumes and cover letters take a lot of time.

I would suggest you take some professional help (for FREE) from MS word which has inbuilt resume templates for making your resume.

You can also follow the step-by-step instruction to make your free resume, using the resume builder provided with MS office.

Resume styles differ according to profession, and sources of sample resumes are available in my profile, check them out, all the best :)
