The Lasko products web page says that this heater uses 12.7 amps. That means that you need to have a 15 or 20 amp line dedicated solely to this heater, ie no other electrical items sharing the circuit breaker with the heater! The worst thing to do is try to have the heater share a circuit with your personal computer, as that would damage the computer severely. Heaters, air conditioners, and computers should each have their own circuit breakers.

can u plug into a different outlet that is part of a higher amp circuit? (don't use an extention cord unless it is specifically labeled as being heavy duty) i won't suggest that u install a higher amp breaker because as a general rule 15 amp circuits have smaller wire than 20 amp circuits and if u just put in a stronger breaker u can run the risk of overheating the lighter wire that wasn't made to carry that much of a load, which can lead to a fire.

The best bet is to install a separate or dedicated breaker in the panel for a unit that requires this much juice. A better answer is let an electrician install the breaker or find a separate one.
