People will tell you "personality". "A sense of humor". Boring, generic things like that.
In my opinion, being able to carry on a conversation is far more important. And I don't mean "What do you do for a living?" but more casual banter. I recommend the movies "Hard Candy" (in the beginning, at least) and Billy Bob Thorton's example in "School For Scoundrels" as an idea of what I'm talking about.
Bring flowers-- it's corney, but guys don't do it much anymore, and it's a flattering gesture. Don't look at other women while she's with you. Make her feel like she's the only person you're interested in.

Watch the movie: "House of Flying Daggers" ---and observe the process of love as it unfolds between the two characters.
Women want a man with:
1. Unique respect and admiration for them
2. Ambition: e.g. when one job or venue fails, you willingly seek a new (beware of goldiggers, though)
3. Sweet little nothings every once in a while---(i.e. roses (or just flowers, seriously), anniversary cards, saying"You're beautiful" , etc.
4. Security--be secure about yourself and make her feel safe around you
5. Devotion...DEVOTION!!! --Women want you all to themselves, seriously
6. Trust.... The love will bring the trust, the trust will bring the commitment, and the commitment will bring a lasting relationship
7. Honestly be honest---If you dont care--SAY IT, If you cheated the other day---TELL IT (a little slowly--just in case she needs time to pull out her hair),
And all that good stuff,
If you LOVE HER,,----this stuff will all come naturally, effortlessly ........you get my drift.
