With my 55 gallon I used a Prism skimmer. It worked decently and didn't give me any problems. I purchased a Remora C with Mag pump for the tank but that was a little overkill because it had a prefilter box that was huge. But the Remora works well in my 80 gallon. If you have a sump I would defiantly run it in there to cut down on the skimmer noise. Do a lot of reading about the pros and cons of different skimmers and choose the on that is right for you.

Good Luck.

Get a euroreef, best hands down. Don't fall for petco prism/seaclone type crap. The euroreef is more expemsive, but well worth it. You can get a knock off like an ASM, but a euroreef is worth the $50 more. Try going to marine depot online to check them out. For $250 there is none better.

Also hit up the selling forums at reefcentral.com and you may find one used.

I have a Berlin Turbo Classic Skimmer and it works great. I purchased it from Drs. Foster and Smith. You can get it for hang-on or a sump. I have the in sump model.
