I am a Canadian and our African-Canadian (AC) population is nothing like it is in the U.S. A few years ago, my son had a school chum who is AC. Well, this kid was 6' tall with the most beautiful skin, beautiful teeth, and a smile that lit up for miles. Chum came by to pick up my son and he had shaved his head and had a gold loop earring in each ear. It suited him tremendously and I told him so. My son, not as tall, lily white skin, acne and a skinny face said he wanted to shave his head and get earrings just like his chum. I didn't know what to say because my son was serious. All I said was I thought his face was too thin, but I said go ahead if you want - he never did.
Chum was styled in the "in" style of the day and he looked great. My son wanted to be as "in" and was going to follow his friend's lead and ya know, it just wasn't the same.
You must admit all that is African-American has been very "in" for the past 10-15 years at least and everyone wants to be "in".
That's all your brother wants is to be "in". He sees the style, etc., and thinks it's cool.

What is acting black? What is acting white? What exactly does that entail. Does speaking with slang or being part of hip hop culture make you ACT black? Does wearing prada and reading the newspaper make you white? You friend is just being who he wants to be, he's not adopting himself into another race. Let him be. I hate when people say I'm acting white because I wear business suits and speak proper english. There is no such thing as acting black and acting white.

I have neighbors like that, and I think it's because they live around black children. I also used to babysit a couple of little black kids who acted very white. I think it's mostly their environment that makes their behavior. :)
Of course, some people just like a certain culture or trend and go with it. :)

I think that anyone is allowed to be whatever they want. As long as they aren't commiting crimes, nothing is wrong with acting a certain way.
I am tired of the intolerance.
