Now the answer depends on the type of touring you are referring to. If you mean mostly interstate freeway type touring, then a good Goldwing will probably be the best. If your idea of touring is taking winding country back roads, then you would have to lean towards the BMW line. Such as the new K1200GT or maybe an LT.

I have BMW K1200 LTC. It's 1999, and has 56,000 miles on it. I never have any trouble with this bike. I never worry about breaking down middle of trip. Amazingly comfortable, smooth ride. I had Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, and KTM before this bike. I still think KTM is the best enduro bike, but BMW is by far the best road bike. I am thinking about trade-in my bike for new one. I am thinking about BMW R1200 ST. It's sport touring bike.

Honda Gold Wing is made for cruising, touring and VERY seldom breaks down.
HDs have to have a "chase car" so when they break down help is near. HDs vibrate so much your butt will be numb after a 100 miles.
Gold Wings are like sitting on a nice soft sofa in your living room plus they are as quiet as a car. HONDA GOLD WING BY FAR!!!! Pops

Honda Goldwing .You will never see any other touring bike rack up the trouble free miles that a Wing will.
