I went on the depo for 6 months after my baby was born and gained over 50 lbs thats over 30 lbs more than I gained while pregnant. I even tried to lose weight while on the shot and gained, I remember one week I practically killed myself on weight watchers and my hubby barely did the program he lost 6 lbs and I gained 10 and that was just one week. And I was breastfeeding an infant so I should have lost some. Not only that I got the worst headaches on it and there is nothing you can do after getting it except letting it get out of your system. Yeah well I gained weight AND fell pregnant while on depo!

yes, and it can make you loose alot of weight dramatically. I was on the shot for 3 years. in the first year I lost 15 pounds, in the second year I gained 50 pounds and in the last year I lost 10 pounds and got off of it after I started to loose weight again. It took me almost 2 1/2 years to get my period back again. I'm not saying that I didn't sit on my as$ while I was on the shot too, I have always done pilates, played basketball and did kick boxing. So I blame all my wieght gain/loss on that shot. Please please please don't go in that direction.

yes yes yes !!!!! I gained so much weight and i was only on the shot for about 8 months. I was devastated .Be very careful, maybe the patch or the ring if you forget to take the pill.

you can gain weight from any form of birth control. The hormones in them trick your body into believing you are pregnant so you start to store extra fat for the baby,even though you are not pregnant.That is why you gain the weight.

Yes it can. My sisters friend gain 15 pounds on the shot.

up to 15lbs the 1st year with 3-5 every year after.
They have put a limit as to how many years you can receive the shot now by recommendations from the FDA

be very careful about taking something like that. i was on it for a year, and had no period at all, thinking about it now that must be very bad for your body. i gained heaps of weight from it.
Today 7 years on, i have only just been able to get pregant. be careful and talk to people that you know that have had it before.
