Preventing an Infestation
Steps
Select healthy, bug-free plants for your home.
Repot indoor plants in sterile potting soil if you suspect a problem.
Allow the soil to dry between watering - gnats thrive in a warm moist environment.
Remove any diseased or rotting roots.
Ousting the Bugs
Steps
Put 1 tsp. of apple cider vinegar, fruit juice or wine in a small bowl of water near infested plants to trap and drown adult gnats.
Tempt adults to lay eggs away from plants by putting sprouting wheat grains in a container next to the plants. Bury or burn egg-laden sprouts after a few days and repeat until laying cycle is broken (8-20 days).
Remove 1/4 inch of topsoil and replace with diatomaceous earth (the skeletal remains of marine algae) to kill the soft-bodied larvae.
Use yellow sticky traps to lure and capture the gnats.
Overall Things You'll Need
Apple Cider Vinegars
Wheat Grains
Fruit Juices
White Wines
Potting Soil
Small Bowls
Diatomaceous Earth

I just used this remedy and it works really well and is simple to do, put 2oz of cider vinegar in a small glass like a juice glass, add two drops of liquid dishwashing soap and leave it set for a few days, then look thru the bottom of the glass, you will be amazed at how many gnats are in the bottom of the glass, I sat out several glasses of this mix and I no longer have gnats in the house....good luck

you must be from michigan., anyway take an old jar and a bright funnel. put apple cider vinegar in the jar and tape the funnel on top. the gnats will fly in but are too stupid to fly out. it works but it takes a minute. i've done this. good luck for i know they can be annoying.

Put some spoiled food (apple juice) in one place and then spray them all with bug spray when they gather around it.
