this is something i do everynight before i go to bed. i hate going to sleep without my blankie, although i can function without it. i'm like a kid stuck in a 17 year olds body. is this weird to you? do you think i should grow up, or is it fine as long as my friends dont find out?

You will most likely get some less than constructive comments about your habits. Don't worry about them. If you want to sleep with you blankie and your dolls, then don't worry about what other people think. If/when you are ready to be without them, YOU will know.

First of all, this has NOTHING to do with your friends. If they really are your friends, they won't really care whether you sleep with a blankie or not. As for what you do....many people like sticking to traditions, because it gives them a sense of security. A lot of people outgrow these kind of rituals eventually, but it takes a different amount of time for different people. For example, I don't need any blankies or anything anymore, but I have a couple friends who do. It all depends on who you are. As long as this does not get in the way of you being away from home, and being a responsible adult, I don't see any problem with keeping up the tradition. If you still feel uncomfortable, try skipping a few nights, and see if you can still function. If not, maybe you just need more time, or maybe try something else, like keeping them near you, but not kissing them or sleeping with them. Eventually you'll grow out of it, or get yourself to grow out of it. While it really doesn't matter right now, a future husband might find it strange to sleep with his wife, AND her two dolls and blankie :-)

Don't get rid of your fav kid things, but try to ease away from it. I still have "AG bear" who was my absolute best friend when I was 3. I'm now 24, and I know that I will never give him up. It is a bit strange to still have to sleep with your blankie and dolls, though. It may be a security problem. Are things going well at school? With your friends? Look into it, and try to ease from the blankie.

Hmmm. I've still got my Pooh. I've had him since I was two and he sleeps with me. I used to travel worldwide as a consultant, and he got lost at a Marriott where I stayed for six months. They found him after three months, and I threw a party for the whole staff.

By the way, I will turn 50 in two weeks, I have a 25 year old daughter in med school (who is jealous, and wants my Pooh bear desperately) but I won't give him up.

Growing up is always optional, in my opinion.

Holding something that you love so much brings a sense of security and comfort. Kissing your dolls shows appreciation and how much value you place on them. The things you really love will not be taken lightly nor abused. You receive the satisfaction from these things by just them being there. They receive from you love and care. There is nothing wrong with that. This is a harmless way of coping with life.

Its okay. If it is comforting to you, don't worry about it. Don't worry about what your friends think. How does it make you feel? Maybe the dolls and the blankie are substitutes you have for not being loved as much as you would've liked. God Bless.

Your real friends won't care. I am 43 and I still sleep with a teddy bear I got when I was 17. I have even taken my bear on trips with me. My teddy has travaled as far as Europe with me. It is ok to have this. It in a way is your best friend. "Growing old is mandatory. Growing up is optional." Don't ever completely grow up, it is soooo much more fun if you don't. Being able to allow yourself to play and have fun will help you deal with life better and with less stress.

Everyone has there thing they do before they go to sleep or help them go to sleep. My thing is my husband gave me a cute teddy bear on our first date and I have slept with him ever since and we have been together for 8 years. Theres nothing wrong with that. If you feel safer keeping to yourself then do that. All power to ya girl!
