YUP!

But its your choice to allow them to continue to remind you of the past.. put a stop to it bottom line if you can't deal with it step.. I told you out of respect and truth, life is tooo short to have to prove myself to you and anybody else.. you have to be firm and say grow the hell up or bounce plan and simple you can never grow if your mate continues to hurt you with the past

Unfortunately yes, i always thought honesty was The best policy, but in some circumstances its not the case.
If you get into an argument they mainly use it because they know they can.
They have gained that knowledge in good faith, but then somehow manage to turn it around to their advantage, maybe to hurt you, so they feel they have more control in an argument. They definitely show no consideration for your feelings.

I discussed things before i decided to continue with the relationship, which seemed fine at the time, but in hindsight some information has been relayed to my child which i have found upsetting for me, which meant i had to discuss issues with my child befor I felt they were ready emotionally to have a fuller understanding of life and situations that may arise.

I think people generally need to think very carefully who they choose to be there partners, issues can be complex but with the right person you can work as a team and build on your future together.

yup...with friends and family too. One day it just slips out (on purpose or not) and the next time there's an argument you get a nasty little reminder...
