It is a chemical that affects the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor on cells. There two types of acetylcholine (a neurotransmitter) receptors - muscarinic and nicotinic. Activation or blockage of these receptors causes various effects in the body depending on the type of cell. For example, some nicotinic acetycholine receptors are involved in sweating. i think you are refering to the new drug for quiting smoking called chantix, it helps block and stimulate both the nicotene receptors and eventually helps quit, good luck
