You may have a leak under the dishwasher that's causing the smell. If that's not the case, I would pour a half cup of clorox bleach into the inside bottom of the machine. Then run through a washing cycle with no dishes. Then run the machine again with fresh water (no dishes) and that should fix you up.

Not sure the cause. Run vinegar through your cycle a couple of times...full strength.

try running some citrus flavored powdered drink mix like lemonade through a cycle it cuts through the soap scum and freshens also
