Betty Suarez has always had one goal in life: to make it into the fashion industry. Despite being smart, hard-working, and productive, her dream has always been shadowed by the fact that she isn't the best looking young woman. However, she is now determined to do whatever it takes to fulfill that ultimate dream.
UGLY BETTY stars America Ferrera in the title role. The show is based on the wildly popular Colombian telenovela which has already been successfully translated in Mexico, India, Russia, and Germany - all to stellar ratings.

The show has potential, but I guess we'll have to see what the writers do with it week after week. I think we all like to root for the underdog.

I give it a 5. Why? Well, too much happened in the first episode. Now what, same thing every week? Betty goes to work and has a bad day? How dull will that be 6 weeks from now?
It was like a made for TV movie not a new show. There was nothing that left me wanting so I am not sure I have a reason to watch next week. The pilot summed it up, she is ugly, his dad made him hire her, he wanted her to quit, had a change of heart, she keeps her job. End of story right?
How many times can he take her for granted only to realize she is useful? Who buys that week after week?

Darn, I missed it! But I heard it got rave reviews.
I saw some little video snippets on aol, and it looks good. I love America Ferrera, too.

I'm always at work (sigh) so I haven't seen it but I knew it was from a spanish show called "Betty La Fea" it sounds like a good premise, if it comes out on dvd I'll watch it.

properly, i attempt to appreciate the unique one (or, the single it really is on Telemundo, Le Fea Mas Bella) and that i even like the Spanish version besides because the recent one with united statesa. Ferrara. i theory it became tremendous. Now, I easily have some thing to observe earlier CSI comes on.
