Why shouldn't they be friends? The ex spouse was once a HUGE part of that person's life. They loved each other at one time, and you can't expect them to just forget each other.

im going thru this right now. my ex wife is raising 3 of my grandchildren (her step) and we talk all the time, plus i give her money each week to help out. the reason she has the children is due to drug usage by their mother (my dau), and she is doing this out of care and concer for them. so we talk each day about the children and quite honestly she is easier to talk to than my g/g cuz my g/f is usually in a grumpy mood, thats just her personallity

If they have kids together they need to be close friends. If not, they could still be good friends. . . they just can't handle 24h/day.
Being good friends, does NOT mean they will ever get together again.

that's just the way it is. usually people break up on bad terms and that'sit. but if ther are kids involved it's great if you can be more than co-parents
