What is the easiest way for me to get from downtown San Jose to San Francisco without a car?

I'll want to be in San Fran by 3pm on Friday. Is there a bus? A train?

Cal Train--depends on where in SJ to where in SF you plan to go.

www.511.org is the best resource. If you're going to the ballpark or in that neighborhood, you can take CalTrain all the way up. If you're looking to go to downtown SF or any tourist spots, you'll have to transfer from CalTrain to BART and possibly to MUNI bus (let's hope not--MUNI is terrible).

I believe there is a "Bullet Train". You might want to do a search for something like that on the Caltrans web site.
