IMHO, you only remember the parts of the dreams that are important to you. These dreams belong to you so you create all relevant details including color or B&W.
As "I love the flipflops" above says, she remembers her dad's green shirt. That's because this was an important detail.
So you might dream in color or B&W even in the same dream or there might not even be colors, just images. I think that most of the answers so far reflect that either color is important to them or that their minds "fill in" the colors so their awake selves can make sense of what they dreamt about.

strange colors... cause that's the way we see the world
sometimes blurry colors, other times vivid colors. I like the vivid dreams.
