There is never an excuse good enough for your boss, is there? After all, how many relatives can die suddenly? And how often can they die?

Don't go into work late and then give an excuse. The "I am late because....." are rarely believed by your boss. If you are going to be late to work tell your boss before you go to your interview.

Tell him that you have a dentist appointment, you have to pick up your car from the repair shop or pick one of the excuses the other people listed.

But due yourself a favor and let your boss know a day or two before the interview.

Good luck.

Taxi broke down. I used that once. It worked. Well only if going to work a distance. Work can't trace the problem because you did not get his or her name and cab number. Another one is you hurt your wrist. And walk in with a tension bandage on it. Or you can use the ankle one. You might get sent home for the whole day though out of pity from your boss. But don't be late all the time. Its not good for your record when looking for other jobs in the future. I used the ones above years ago. My job now? No way can i be late.
Take care.

An early morning doctor appointment.
An early morning banking or attorney appointment.
Car trouble that takes a while to fix, such as needing a new battery & waiting for somebody to drive you to the auto store to get it.
A migraine headache... once the medication starts working, you start to feel well enough to come to work.
You have a sick husband, daughter, mother, grandma, etc... and you have to wait for somebody to come and take care of them so you can leave.

Good luck with the new job.

You hit a dog, had to talk with owners, or had to drop it off at a vet. Or, if you commute, you had a doctor's appointment, or you had to take a neighbour to the ER cuz they had chest pain.

You could say 'stuck in traffic,' because it's not your fault and how could you have expected that.
