Where can I start. Let's see. Oh!!! I know!!! We have a group of people fighting to defend us right now. They are known as the men and women of the United States Armed Forces. You know ARMY, NAVY, AIR FORCE, MARINES, COAST GUARD(the USCG falls under the Department of Transportation but they are Vets none the less). Let's start there. How about a firefighter that is trying to put a fire at the family home. Search and Rescue works, police officers and the likes. And how about the person that just renders assistance to those who need it. Wither it's rescuing the cat out of the tree, helping a child, defending your country or just expressing sincere kindness. The person who is called "Hero" is a hero to the person that calls them "HERO". My Gram pa was and is my Hero. Not just because he was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart during WWII. HE WAS AND IS MY GRAM PA!!! And for what it's worth. My son says I am his hero just because I am his dad.

The person day in and day out does something to help others and save lives but is always behind the scenes. Always trying to do more without doing to get on camera them selves.

someone who has the courage to stand up in adversity. it all depends on your interpretation of "hero", really. someone who realizes that there is something more important than fear, and does something about their sitaution. since 9/11, many people have considered todd beamer and jeremy glick heros for their fights against terrorism on that fateful day.
