Olivia, lot of robust recommendations on the drapes etc. in case you do have domicile windows that get midday day sunlight you do opt to tug the hues even if that's not authentic windy outdoors. Direct sunlight warms carpets and couches etc. It retains somewhat radiant warmth for later interior the day. close the hues even as the daylight starts getting low. a hearth position is an fairly IN-efficient heater. except those equipped with those blowers, a hearth do not not often do something. even with the blowers, they're especially intense priced to operate. ought to make confident they're sparkling, and then have a lot of timber. stated you probably did not opt to lay our a fortune. it really is somewhat intense priced to position in. there is those those who do those retrofits, the position they installation an iron range, and run the vent up via the former hearth. You loose some residing area, reason the range is interior some feet. even must have a metallic protector for the floor, and an fence to maintain previous human beings, childrens and drunks remote from the range. you receives warmth from each and every piece of timber, and it received't merely pass up the chimney. You didn't identify the make or model of the car, but here is a generic break-down.
The switch itself could be anywhere from $30.00 to $60.00, and there is a good chance that it will have to come from the dealer. Some of them are available from the after-market sources, but not all of them.
Consider the time it will take for him to disassemble the door and replace the switch, and then re-assemble the door, without damage to your upholstery. I would hazard a guess of 3/4 hour or more.
If the shop rate is anywhere near the average ($85.00 to $130.00 depending on the location in the USA) that could be as high as $90.00 plus the switch, as much as $60.00 plus tax.
It may seem a bit high, but the mechanic doesn't get all of that. The shop takes the money, and out of that comes the cost of the job (parts etc.) then rent, utilities, payroll, insurance, tools and equipment, etc. etc. etc.... You get the point.

Try to keep one thing in mind, and this is not meant to be sarcastic or smart a**.
The auto repair shop is like every other enterprise in America. He is there NOT to repair your car, he is there to make money to feed his family. His means to that end is to repair cars. He has a responsibility to his employees who are there only to make the boss money. If he does a good job of that, the boss gives him some of it by way of a paycheck.
That is the ONLY purpose for him to be in business. If he is any good as a business man, he will see to it that he makes his money by satisfying you, the customer, so that when you next need repair, you will come back to him.

Good Luck

if its a newer gm car the switch will probably cost around $50 for the passenger door and around $70 fer the driver-on a new gm it just pops right out with a flat head screwdriver(no bolts -just pops right out)and a 2 yr old can change it honestly-just pop the wire harness off the old one and put it on the new one and put it back in the door-alot of other models you do actually have to take the door apart and unbolt the old one and bolt in the new one but yeah if its a newer gm do it yourself-it takes about 1 minute

Could be a fair price, depending on your make/model of car. If he has to order parts from the dealer and they cost $100 and you figure an hour's labor tearing the door panel apart ($50) the estimate seems good to me.

It depends on several things. The make of your car, what part of the country you live in , and if the dealer is fixing it. I had one fixed lately and it cost me $125 I was told just the switch cost $90 and when you figure in labor, then, yes, it is probably fair.

dunno, try phoning around auto supply stores and finding out how much the switch actually costs. Keep in mind that if he has to take the door apart and put it back together, you may be looking an hours labour which is$70 or so.

Phone some other mechanics and ask for estimates, if their about the same or higher your probably ok, if they all quote you $50 your getting ripped off.

that depends on make and model...some are easy to replace some aren't also it is more expensive to replace the switch on a BMW than on a Chevy...and it could be the same switch...but most likely not...maybe between a Cadillac and an Impala yes...

2 hours worth of work, at $75 an hour. Sounds fair to me.

It does sound pretty fair to me - these can be labor intensive - the switch itself isn't that expensive.
