To me, a baby becomes an infant when they gain some control over their neck. The they become a toddler when they are a year, or when they start crawling.

I don't think there is any official age when these become the terms we typically use. For a newborn, I usually consider babies under 6 weeks old to be classified as that. I am a licensed daycare provider and for classification of infants, a baby under the age of 18 months is considered an infant. I can only have 2 infants in my care at one time. I think of toddlers as being 18 months - to 3 years old. 3-5 I think of them as preschoolers.

As soon as they start to pull themselves up they are toddlers- the newborn thing, well I would say anybaby past 3 months is not a newborn anymore, but still an infant.

I've read 2 weeks for a newborn. Not sure about toddlers - maybe 1 yr, since that's when many walk?

I would say they are not a newborn anymore at one month in my mind. I consider anybody who walks has become a toddler regardless of age, because that's what it means--they toddle around.

3 months for infant status, and then daycares go by 18 months for toddlerhood. But, I think a toddler is when they start walking, loosely.
