The #1 cause of abortion, is, was, and always wil be the stigma on unwed mothers from the conservative right. This is a proven fact.

All conservatives with an IQ over 75 agree with this, both of them.

Im a moderate. I say that because Im against abortion but am not against the gay population. The only thing thatll reduce the abortion epidemic is if irresponsible "women" would either keep their legs closed or go to term. Pro life people are not against unwed mothers, they are against these unwed mothers having an abortion. You can only blame abortion o the ones having them and the people who feed them lies.

Thats a great question.

The answer would turn of course on what percentage of abortions are caused by social pressures. I would imagine that some signficant portion are caused by fear of parental dissaproval, societal tabboo, etc. However, I posit that the majority of abortions are caused by disfavorable social conditions such as extreme poverty.

Hence, to answer your question- Yes, some reduction could be achieved by eradicating antiquated notions of stigmatizing unwed mothers. However white white middle class america could do better by turning to the impoverished minority groups living in inner cities who have the VAST majority of abortions. If conservatives really wanted to cut down on abortion they would cut down on its root cause- social injustice and the disparities between rich and poor.

I wonder how many people condemn abortion in public, and quietly resort to this 'practice' when 'it' (the unwanted pregnancy) happens in their families?
