Why does the U.S. try to spread Democracy? It may not work in all societies. If everyone gets along, who cares what kind of government a country has?

Just so you know...I love Democracy...I just don't see the need to beat people with it...

Yes, it is wrong. People have fought and died to prevent such horror in the United States and the liberals want it. I wish they would all leave America.

Get that thought out of your mind, please.

In theory it works great but, in reality, you'll always have people slacking off because they'll still get their share for less work. It's like saying, "You can work as hard as you can but they payoff may not be enough to live off of."

Democracy isn't so great (but we're really a Republic - Democracy involved the WHOLE populous and Democracy uses representatives) as far as the lowly are concerned because there's no easy way to "make it" in the world without nearly killing yourself. That's why Capitolism is a bittersweet thing, too.

But you're right, no one should have anything forced down their throat, no matter what it is. It'll only make you wretch and throw it up somehow. Bad explanation but it fits. You eat too much of something that's really bad for you, you either get sick or die from it. Maybe not physically, but mentally is more than enough to break a man down.

They all have their pros & cons

IMHO, socialism and communism are just bad ideas, because it is predicated onthe idea that humans are equivalent to ants, that we will happily subsume our own best interests in order to make things better for the nation or world as a whole. It might work if everyone would shoulder their share of the burden and not cheat, but cheating invariably occurs, hence the collapse of the USSR and subsequent movement of Communist China toward a more market-driven economy.

I guess there's nothing wrong to be a socialist or communist other than it seems to indicate you just aren't very smart. The other problem is that in general, people have never willingly converted to communism and have had to be forced by coup or invasion to do so. So I guess if someone wants to be a communist or socialist but doesn't want to force me to be one as well, I have no problem with that. I wouldn't especially want to have anything to do with them, but I wouldn't lose any sleep over their communist leanings.

Why does the US try to spread democracy? Good question, since it doesn't seem to work even as well as the communists trying to spread communism or the socialists trying to spread socialism. The thing about democracy is that you have to want to be a democracy. What we're trying to do in Iraq and, to some extent, in Afghanistan is to force these people to adopt democracy and it doesn't seem to be succeeding very well in spite of the rosy reports of the Bush administration.

If everyone gets along, who cares what kind of government a country has? Well, that would all be well and good if borders were iron-clad and if totalitarian regimes did not often try to export their brand of government to their neighbors. In fact it does matter a great deal what type of government your neighbor has, especially if he's got a big military and you don't .

I agree with you: I think democracy is the best form of government there is, but trying to push other countries into it is just plain dumb. It's like trying to teach a pig arithmetic: it frustrates you and annoys the pig.

Socialist democracies: England, Canada, France, Holland, Demark, Norway, etc., most of the people of the free world believe that peoples needs are more important than the needs of the corporations. The US is also a socialist democracy that has been taken over by a cult of right wing hate mongers, temporarily. I expect that to change on January, 20, 2009.

Countries are run and built by corporations and groups that want to control or profit from the motivations of people. These groups write the history books, sell religion, build schools, and buy politicians with the money that hard working people make. If you provide people with their basic needs, why would they work themselves to death producing products for sale?
Communism is basically the same problem: people finding ways to live in communes of self-sufficient, self-contained enclaves of existence, not competing with each other for resources, but cooperating with their environment in order to establish an equilibrium.
Communist countries only exist because there are groups of people who use the idea of communism to get their citizens to work TOWARD this ideal, but these groups profit from the control of the delusion, and the citizens never see their dream realized.
It's all in the marketing. Religion was invented to teach the natives not to eat the salesmen.
There are 'intentional communities' within the U.S. and other countries. Some have existed for decades, and some are modified closed communities, like the Amish, where they choose to avoid competition for the bottom of the morality barrel in favor of communal life.
Communism isn't a threat to Democracy. It is a threat to "American Interests". Those 'interests' are the ones that make profits on competition.

america thinks that they are all that and cant shut there mouths its a good system but it doesnt make that government all powerful sure we have the most advanced military on the planet but heck russia is communist and they have more manpower they would destroy use if we went to war with them so i belive that every government should have there own choice about what works best not all forms of government work on other countries because for one we are a developed country other countries may not be so they would not have the resources to support democracy.

You can be socialist in a democracy. You must be talking about the former communist dictatorships.

But yes, Europe is full of democratic socialist countries.

Most people in America hate socialists because it means equal oppurtunity for minorities and they think the current white-only benefiting capitalist system is the one to have.. We are stereotyped as a racist country so I'm not very surprised.

Yes, I agree with you COMPLETELY!!
I love democracy too, but in some societies, the culture, economy, geography and many other factors might make it so that perhaps our system of government would not be the best fit for them.

No.

We're not trying to spread Democracy, the government is trying to gain access to resources. That's what this whole thing is about.

You're absolutely right.

When I was a kid .. it was Russia that was causing Wars and trying to force other countrys to become like them .. they also illegally tapped phone lines, took people out of their houses in the dark and never heard from again. We felt so bad for the Russian population back then .. cause we knew it was the Government and not them. I think America, today, is one breath away from being like Russia when I was a kid. :(
