Last christmas foreigner groups gathered in a meeting in Ottawa Canada. They wanted the city to ban all nativity scenes and even the word christmas from signs to commercials to newspaper ads. basically the wanted to abolish the word christmas. now Im very respectful towards foreighners, however when I heard of this I was enraged. To Think of all we Canadians(ottawans) had done for them, only to be told we shouldnt utter the word christmas!!!!!
I MEAN COME ON PEOPLE. You dont see us canadians marching into Iran and say"you guys should get rid of Rammadan!!! bcuz we are not muslim!!!

This is just a result of a lack of tolerance for anything different. Most people wouldn't care about the faith that someone else practices, but there are some people out there that have to have everything their way. (Their way or no way) When I was in school we were able to celebrate christmas, the teachers were able to pass out sheets to be colored of the nativity, of baby Jesus, or christmas trees and Santa Claus. We were able to celebrate with programs with children singing songs(forgetting the words and making up their own) and classes of kindergartners fumbling over the right words to the story of the nativity. But these things are now removed to have a non-secular holiday. No christmas trees, no songs(Frosty and Rudolph are sometimes allowed) and they don't even have Christmas break anymore-it is now Winter Break.
Out of schools, the are no nativity scenes on public property. Some cities have banned Christmas trees in all public buildings and all things linked to anything that could be considered in anyway religious.
I don't get why people can't let others live the way that they wish without thinking that they should control everything.

People don't like Christmas because it is about Christ I'm sure. It is easier to take something away rather that trying to coincide with it.
