Just because they see problems with the method in which the U.S. is waging war against the terrorists do not mean they are in favor of the destruction of America or in favor of the rights of terrorists. That is an extremely simplistic way of looking at a very complex problem, and one in which the Bush Administration has framed in almost the identical terms.
If one believes that one can throw out the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights to "save and protect" Americans, we have indeed lost. Being "safe" from terrorism but having our civil rights and liberties suspended is not the answer.
It is an extremely gray issue, and it is up to those who can reflect and think critically about the Patriot Act to reason this out so that we don't lose our cherished freedoms in order to be "safe."

The insane right are doing a fine job of destroying America w/out any help from the left. Just because you supported a war based on lies doesn't mean that the people who didn't are wrong for still not supporting it, they are just being consistent and resisting stupidity.
You could learn a lot about world politics and labeling people from a v. entertaining/interesting book called the Complete Text of the Ragged Trousered Philanthropists, written 110 years ago by a house painter from Hastings in his spare time as a diary after working 12 to 16 hours a day.
It needs to be the Complete text because the original was censored and edited to be less offensive to the rich in the US and UK.

The liberal thing to do is look for answers. All roads point to America's Imperial resource acquisition activities through corporate power and corruption as the source of most of the problems with our relations with other countries and the loss of our own local communities as viable options.
The corporations and their paid politicians get their money from us.
We buy the gas and oil and the money goes to Middle East terrorists and governments.
We work for pathological corporations that will do whatever they can to make profits, regardless of the effects on people (unless they start killing their own customers).
From that work, we pay taxes to buy tanks and airplanes to fight the terrorists we paid for oil.
Then we raise our children to operate the tanks and airplanes.
If you want change, keep it in your pocket. Your dollar is the only vote that counts.

it is solid! the biggest distinction is: Conservatives have self assurance in God, smaller government, and private duty. Liberals go through a psychological ailment and have self assurance (examine as dream) that the State (i.e. government) would desire to play the functionality of God as a fashion to create a Heaven in the international (the place there is not any prefer for private duty b/c the government will make all possibilities for all persons). i'm exceptionally constructive that's what the story above gets at.
