Would you answer the call to jury duty if you were called to serve every two years?

I wouldn't have a choice. Someone would come and arrest me if I didn't report to do my civic duty. I would be incarcerated and my freedoms stripped away without a trial.

This is the United Sates after all.

Yes. When you look at what is required of Americans in terms of civic duties, there aren't many. The fact that people refuse to go to jury duty when they are summonsed is pathetic, and I think they SHOULD have to do jail time for it. If you want a country of, by, and for the people, jury duty is as grass-roots as it gets. The people who skip out on it don't deserve the basic feedoms this country affords them.

Yes, I would answer every time I was called! However, it varys from state to state. In Wisconsin, one only has to serve every 5 years, if called. If I were called every other month, I would be happy to serve!

Okay, this was not always my belief. I used to believe that it is not my responsibility, but God's. He would decide the fate of others! And even now, some of that remains in my beliefs.

I doubt that I would recommend the death penality for anyone. I do not believe in the taking of anothers life.

None the less - I would be willing to serve. It is every USA citizen's duty.

Respectfully,

Sasquatch Ü

They do contact you here in New Jersey even if you don't vote (my son has lived in California for the last 5 years) and sometimes even if you aren't a citizen yet (they get names from the Department of Motor Vehicles).
I think it is very boring, because I get called and i go, but I have never been selected as a juror. So it means I get to spend a lot of time sitting around waiting to not get chosen. At this point, I really don't care if they never choose me. Probably there's a better way to perform your "civic duty."

You have to do Jury duty in most states, its the law. They take it from the voter registration pool, so in short, if you don't vote, you won't do the duty.
