The issue is simply not that Kurt will make more money, because the fact of the matter is this: VinnieMac can afford much more than TNA. Contrary to the last answers, it has little to do with the fact that Kurt can do it so he did it; and, it makes little difference that its a work (wrestling is fake).
This is the reason: Kurt has a lot of pain. Vince requires a really rough on the road schule; TNA does not. Vince has said he would welcome Kurt back at any time to WWE.
And to note, Kurt was not FIRED, I am adding that in response. You dont fire someone and say that they can come back. Vinnie doesnt allow a release. He holds Kurt in much more esteem than a situation such as Big Poppa Pump who just disappeared and became a part of TNA as a last opportunity that wasnt indy.

Well let me give you the whole story. The reason kurt left WWE is because since he's lost his World championship belt at WWE Wrestlemania, he felt he got "held back" and were getting dis-treated by WWE. That is the "personal" reason why he left WWE. He then got an offer from TNA and agreed!

Are you stupid, ignorant or crazy because Vince MaMahon fired Kurt Angle and you need to wake up and realize it.

The obvious answer is that TNA was willing to pay him more money than WWE.
