I have been amazed at the incredible lack of knowledge by people asking questions yet they own horses or want one. I cringe at all the questions. Wonder how horses survive these people. Wonder how people survive these horses.

I have worked with and have been around horses from the time I was 5-years-old until a few years ago.

It definitely amazes me the type of questions I see on here about the care of horses. I applaud the efforts that these people are trying to make in order to learn more about horse care, but I feel that most of the questions should have been answered BEFORE their horse was bought!

Horses, to a lot of people, are like expensive cars. A person will buy a BMW or a Mercedes Benz because it's a status symbol, but they won't think about how expensive and costly the maintenance and parts for foreign cars are.

To all people who want to be horse owners, read more than a few books and ask questions around your stables (I'm hoping that you actually ride at a stable and take lessons from credited instructors). You will get the right answers before owning your first horse.

the only way to learn is by asking. A lot of these questions are legitimate questions and people just dont know. How many of us horse owners here really knew everything and did all of their research before getting their first horse?

Unfortunately those people don't realize how little true knowledge they have about their animals. Some of them read a few books and think they are experts.Their poor animals have to just survive the best they can. Of course, sometimes the animal just can't take anymore and rebels against the owner. Then all you hear is how bad the animal is. Seldom does anyone check to see how the animal had been treated.

thank you amen! i was wondering that myself.i just don't get it.i guess its some big status symbol to own a horse and then kill it or be killed by it now.one starved to death Saturday because nobody had the nerve to just turn it loose.everybody said stuff about it but nobody did a thing.i found out the day the horse died.a 3 yr old.the man who had it is old and is getting Alzheimer's.he lives on top of this mt in the Danial Boone national forest.the horse couldn't have bothered anybody and would probably still be alive, but all these people who used to ride by on 4 wheelers just watches as he slowly starved to death.makes me wonder about humans in general.i sure like most of my horses better than most people i know.

Hey...If we don't ask we Will never know. At least they are trying to learn and doing what they can to not neglect the horse. I would be more worried about the person that didn't ask the questions. Its just like having a child...they don't come with instructions, we learn as we go and if there is something we don't know or are unsure of we ask.

My average rule is to hold it to inside 10 over the pace prohibit on the town. I do not wish tickets, and much more I do not wish to crash right into a left turning auto or some thing. Out within the geographical region, I do not pay awareness to the pace prohibit however I am additionally mindful of the quandary (curvy blind roads with advantage for gravel, I persist with the pace prohibit), large open roads I'll cross as quick as I consider it is nontoxic to do. On the freeway, 10-15 over while round automobiles, but when there is an open avenue and I can see for a even as that there is no law enforcement officials, I'll provide it a burst of pace only for a laugh. I believe you'll be able to be nontoxic and nonetheless pace right here and there, you relatively simply must be mindful of your atmosphere, the quandary to hand, and the state of your desktop. Sometimes there is unhealthy success at play, however that is unavoidable!!

It amazes me as a farrier how oblivious people are. Even when you explain something carefully it just bounces right back out of their heads. There are very few barns you can walk into where things are entirely right. But I've also seen cases of good owners being turned in by people who think they know it all. Most people aren't raised with animal sense I think it takes a few generations for it to come naturally to a person.

I am interested to know what questions they asked. I understand thinking that people are so dumb its amazing that the kept themselves alive this long. I personnaly don't feel comfortable with the idea of an idiot caring for my horse, so really it's no good for any horse.
