Sure looks that way. What's strange is how the supposedly moral right defends it. How they sleep at night is beyond me.

Not for want of trying.

Conservatives have been aching to scour civil liberties from the books for decades now. It's the Dirty Harry Impulse. They make the leap from "the courts are too concerned with the rights of perpetrators" and "the courts are too complicated" to "let's turn the U.S. into a police state" and "let's torture people if the greater good is at stake."

Sadly, the G.O.P. only has to go to Joe Sixpack, incited by news accounts of crime and criminals who got away because of loopholes, to get an enthusiastic stamp of approval.

Pro torture! Nothing has changed except we know what is going on. Things like this have been going on for a long time, way before bush was president! Torture has been on the news lately because Bush wants to put in writing what exactly torture is that way the interrogators know what is with in the law and what is "To Far"

I do not know of any interrogator that would interrogate a prisoner without knowing whats with in the law. Would suck for them if they broke the law doing their job.

who knows. politics is a dirty business and we the people will know just the smallest amount of info. it would not surprise me if he were to do that since he has made a lot of major mistakes since becoming president and next time, can we actually pick a decent person like Kerry to run our country?Bush has done so much BS up until rt. now that you never know what you get with him, and even if the US were to use torture of course they would deny the rumors because they can.

I think we can safely say that the Founding Fathers made the United States of America pro-torture. The fact that it wasn't an official policy didn't stop anyone from doing it.

Yes! Since the year 2000, when the Supreme Court appointed the president instead of Florida actually counting the votes to see who the majority of Floridians voted for, this president has brought in all sorts of Nazi tactics.

He has campaigned against gay having the same rights as other Americans. He has appointed one Nazi after the other to all the important Government posts including ambassador to the U.N. and Attorney General.

Alberto Gonzalez was known for his use of torture, and now that he's a big-wig in the Govenment he has used his influence on the Congress, Senate and the House to bring on even more Nazi tactics.

You are witnessing the Nazification of America.

I don't think so. Many many Americans oppose torture. I think the Bush regime is a dark spot in our history, but fortunately he can't be President for life and hopefully the next person who holds the job will help restore our tarnished image.

No. He is not giving into the wimps who re afraid of using tough interrogation methods. We are not talking about some of the following techniques:
Bamboo splinters under the finger nails like the Vietnamese did,
using of electric drills or bow torches like the Middle Easterners are using. We will not saw peoples heads off etc...
